‘Role of women Police increases’: IGP Mukherjee at Police reorientation programme

July 15, 2018

Mysuru: – Inspector General of Police, Southern Range Soumendu Mukherjee called upon the women Head Constables not to feel discriminated as they enjoy as much powers as the men.

He was addressing the women Head Constables at the inauguration of the 13-day reorientation programme at the Police Training School recently and said that there is only Head Constable and not man or woman Head Constable.

In the changes and amendments to the law, the role of women Police has increased.

For instance in the  Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), sexual harassment of women at work place and laws related to women, the women constables have a big role to play, there is also a need to understand about cyber crime and investigative skills, he said.

Keeping in mind that the  Head Constable is an important fulcrum, they should concentrate on the reorientation programme to get the maximum benefit, he added.

Mysuru Police Training School Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malgatti, Vice-Principal P. Umesh (Dy.SP), Assistant Director of Prosecution S. Pushpalatha, AAO S.L. Umamaheshwara, Inspectors S. Nagesh, G.N.
