Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its 6th Charter Day, the Rotary Ivory City Mysuru conferred ‘Margadarshaka’ and ‘Yuva Pratibhe’ Awards at a programme organised at a private hotel in city recently.

Speaking as the guest of honour on the occasion, Swami Vivekananda Memorial Palliative Care Centre Head B.S. Ramakrishna Mudre said that Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) has been rendering service to the society in fields such as Health, Education, Economic Research, Human Resources etc., for the past 35 years.

Maintaining that SVYM is a Non-Governmental organisation working towards building a responsible civil society, he said that the Palliative Care Centre will cater to the needs of patients suffering from Cancer, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, AIDS and such other dreaded ailments.

Highlighting the role of counsellors in the treatment of suffering patients, he said that more than 3,000 patients have walked out of the centre after undergoing therapy or treatment. He called for involvement of youths as  volunteers in building a healthy and active society.

PGD PHF Rtn. M. Lakshminarayan, in his address, explained the role of Rotary institutions in various social services.

Asserting that Rotary played a crucial role in helping the society during the COVID crisis, he said that the social services helped in sending a message to the society on the values of human life.

B.S. Ramakrishna  Mudre was conferred ‘Margadarshaka’ Award and shot-putter V. Ambika was conferred ‘Yuva Pratibhe’ Award on the occasion.
