Rotary West School Row: Suspension of Head Mistress revoked; panel to probe lapses

July 19, 2017

Mysuru: Bowing to pressure from parents, the management of Rotary West School at Dattagalli has revoked the suspension of Latha Shivakumar, the in-charge Head Mistress of the School. However, a committee of enquiry will be constituted to probe the lapses of Latha Shivakumar for which she was suspended.

It may be recalled here that students and parents of Rotary West School at Dattagalli staged a flash protest yesterday opposing the management decision to suspend the Head Mistress. Students and parents gathered in front of the School and shouted slogans against the management.

The School management had suspended her on charges of dereliction of duties. She was served the suspension notice yesterday morning. Hearing about Latha Shivakumar’s suspension, hundreds of students and parents protested demanding that the management take back the suspension order. They sought to know the reasons behind her suspension and said that the management’s decision will have an impact on the academic atmosphere of the School.

As the parents demanded an explanation from the management, heated arguments ensued between them. Seeing the situation going out of control, Kuvempunagar Police intervened and controlled the warring parties.

Following the protest, a School Managing Committee meeting was held this morning, where a decision was taken to revoke the suspension in the interests of the School. Speaking to Star of Mysore, Rtn. C.R. Hanumanth, who is also a member of the School Managing Committee, said that there were several complaints against Latha Shivakumar prompting the management to issue the suspension order.

“We have decided to revoke her suspension but will constitute an independent committee of enquiry to probe the allegations against her,” he said and added that the committee will comprise members from third party for fair fact finding.
