Mysore/Mysuru: The Police team, which had arrested seven accused in the murder of rowdy-sheeter Chandru, who was hacked to death in front of a tailor shop in Vontikoppal on Thursday evening, have arrested five more accused at a village in H.D. Kote taluk in the early hours of yesterday. With this, the Police have arrested a total of 12 accused in the case.
The five arrested are car driver Venkatesh, Varun alias Kappe, Sachin, Darshan alias Appu and Anilkumar Naika.
Following the murder, seven accused were arrested at a farm house in Yelwal on Saturday early morning and were produced before the Magistrate in the afternoon, who remanded them to judicial custody. The Cops had then launched a hunt to nab others who had gone absconding.
Venkatesh, who had come in a car, had helped Varun, Sachin, Darshan, Anilkumar and others in the murder and had gone absconding. The Police team, who had launched a hunt to nab the accused based on the clues, have arrested all the accused in the case and have seized the lethal weapons and the vehicles used for the crime.
It may be recalled that nine persons, who had come on three two-wheelers had hacked Chandru to death, when he was sitting in front of the tailor shop and had fled from the spot. Three others, who had come to help them, had escaped in a car after the crime was committed.
