Rs. 1.85 cr. released for Chamundi Vihar Stadium

Mysuru: The State Government has released Rs. 1.85 crore for the development and maintenance of Chamundi Vihar Stadium here over the past three years, said Deputy Chief Minister and Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar.

Replying to a question raised by MLC Raghu Kautilya during the Question Hour of the Legislative Council Session in Bengaluru, Dr. Parameshwar said, Rs. 82.35 lakh was released during 2023-24, Rs. 51.60 lakh in 2024-25 & Rs. 51.60 lakh in 2025-26.

Corruption in maintenance

Asked whether the Government was aware of allegations of corruption in the maintenance of the stadium, Dr. Parameshwar said, the Upa Lokayukta had inspected the stadium and steps were being taken to implement the recommendations.

“Works related to water supply, installation of pipelines and cleaning of sumps, among others, are in progress. Construction of a compound wall around the sports hostel and other civil works are being taken up at a cost of Rs. 66.76 lakh,” he said.

Dr. Parameshwar said, several works were being taken up under the State Govt’s grant, including construction of a modern kitchen, road development, installation of roofing for the indoor stadium and swimming pool, development of the football field, installation of a tensile roof over the seating galleries & development of women’s hostel.

He clarified that these works were not being taken up under a Central Government grant.

Facilities for Sub-Registrar offices

Replying to another question on facilities at Sub-Registrar offices in Mysuru, Dr. Parameshwar said, basic amenities had been provided at all 5 Sub-Registrar offices in city. “The Govt. has released Rs. 50 lakh for renovation of Mysuru North Sub-Registrar Office and Rs. 2 crore for construction of Mysuru South Sub-Registrar Office,” he said.

Maintenance of TBs

Replying to another question from MLC Raghu Kautilya on the maintenance of Travellers’ Bungalows (TBs), Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi said, the Department was taking up regular maintenance works based on the condition and requirements of the bungalows.

“In the past three years, the State Government has released Rs. 15,580.55 lakh in 2023-24, Rs. 19,959.08 lakh in 2024-25 and Rs. 19,739.94 lakh in 2025-26 for maintenance,” he said.
