Rs. 1.96 lakh siphoned off as soon as blocked WhatsApp was unblocked

Mysuru: A resident of Kuvempunagar has lodged a complaint with the Police that about Rs. 2 lakh was siphoned off in phases from his Bank account as soon as he unblocked his blocked WhatsApp.

In his complaint, the Kuvempunagar resident has stated that his WhatsApp was blocked and when he tried to unblock the WhatsApp by registering his mobile phone number, a One Time Password (OTP) was auto generated and on entering the OTP, the WhastsApp was unblocked. But in the evening, money was withdrawn five times from his Bank account totalling Rs. 1,96,603.

Following withdrawal of money from his Bank account, the victim lodged a complaint at Kuvempunagar Police Station.
