Mysuru: Y.B. Hemanthkumar Yachenahalli, an aspirant of Director post of State Vokkaligara Sangha, has donated Rs. 2 lakh for renovation of over a century old Shankara Mutt and Laavar Basappa Garadi Mane located at Mission Hospital Road in city. Hemanthkumar, who visited ‘Garadi Mane’ on Thursday morning, handed over Rs. 2 lakh cheque to Garadi President Pailwan Ravi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru District Vokkaliga Sangha Vice-President Ravikumar (Rajakiya) said, there were at least two Garadi Manes during the time of the erstwhile Mysuru rulers. But with the passage of time, youths who practised daily at these wrestling houses, turned away from the sport, thus forcing the closure of Garadi Manes, which are very much part of our history. It is laudable that Hemanthkumar has donated Rs. 2 lakh for renovation of ‘Garadi Mane’ which has turned dilapidated, he added.
Garadi Mane Vice-President Diwakar, office-bearers Umesh, Soma & Rajanna were present.
