Mysuru: Lashkar Police have arrested two persons on charges of pickpocketing Rs.2 lakh from a person, who was sipping coffee at a coffee shop and have recovered Rs.1.20 lakh from them. The Police arrested the accused within 24 hours of lodging the complaint.
The arrested are 42-year-old Akram Khan of Ghousianagar and 40-year-old Asgar Ahmed of Rajivnagar in city.
On July 6, one Marigowda of Srirangapatna had come to Mysuru to purchase gold jewellery and had brought Rs.2 lakh for the purchase which he had kept in his pant pocket.
After reaching Ashoka Road, Marigowda went to a coffee shop and was sipping coffee when the accused cut open the pant pocket of Marigowda and stole Rs.2 lakh.
Marigowda, on July 16, lodged a complaint at Lashkar Police Station and the Police, who registered a case, took Akram, a habitual offender with similar cases against him, into custody and interrogated him. During interrogation, Akram is said to have confessed of committing the crime along with his friend Asgar Ahmed following which the Police arrested Asgar and based on the information provided by them, the Police have recovered Rs.1.20 lakh cash from them.
Lashkar Inspector Muniyappa, speaking to Star of Mysore, said that public should not carry huge cash with them, instead should use ATM cards or should do online transaction. One may face danger while carrying huge cash with them.
Lashkar Inspector Muniyappa, ASI Pooja and staff Narasimhamurthy, Pradeep, Lokesh and Bhupaiah took part in the nabbing and recovery operation.
