Rs. 20 lakh seized from official’s car

Gundlupet –  Even as the public campaigning for Apr. 9 Nanjangud and Gundlupet by- polls comes to an end at 5 pm today, the Police have seized Rs. 20 lakh cash from the official car of an NWKRTC (North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) official at Gundlupet town this morning.

Some BJP activists who noticed the car parked in front of a hotel at Gundlupet town, suspected it to be carrying cash meant to be distributed among the voters ahead of Gundlupet bypoll, alerted the Gundlupet Town Police, according to reports.

The Police who rushed to the spot checked the car and seized 10 bundles of Rs. 2,000 denomination, totalling Rs. 20 lakh, it is learnt.
