Rs. 3.16 crore fake currency seized in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar:  On a tip off, Chamarajanagar East Police intercepted a goods pick up vehicle (KA-05-AJ-0374) yesterday near Suvarnavati reservoir in Attagulipura village in the taluk and on inspection found counterfeit currency notes of Rs. 2,000 denomination worth Rs. 3.16 crore concealed under the chassis which was seized along with the vehicle.

The Police have arrested one Karthik, 23 of Saragur, Mysuru District and is being interrogated. Another accused is absconding and the Police have spread a dragnet to nab him.  Addressing a press conference at his office this morning, Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police H.D. Anand Kumar told reporters that the accused was working at a hair cutting saloon at Virajpet in Kodagu and his native is Saragur near H.D. Kote. Rewards have been announced to the Police team.
