SIIMA Awards 2019: Yash bags Best Actor Award for ‘KGF’

 ‘Daali’ Dhananjaya for Best Negative Role; Mysuru’s Ananya Bhat wins Best Playback Singer for ‘Tagaru’

Doha:  The eighth edition of South Indian International Movie Award (SIIMA) aimed at honouring the technicians and artistes of South Indian Film Industry was held at Doha, Qatar, yesterday.

The glittering ceremony witnessed artistes and technicians from Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam Film Industries being honoured for their hard work and excellence showcased during the previous year.

It was a proud moment for Mysuru as two of its artistes were awarded for the display of their talent on and off screen last year. While, actor Dhananjaya, popularly known as ‘Daali Dhananjaya’ won the award for Best Negative Role for the movie ‘Tagaru’, singer Ananya Bhat won the Best Playback Singer (Female) award for the song ‘Hold On Hold On’ also from the movie ‘Tagaru’.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Ananya Bhat thanked Music Director Charan Raj and the entire team of ‘Tagaru’ for giving her such a big opportunity.

“There is more and more to come as my dreams are very high. ‘Tagaru’ was my first big budget movie and it was Chanraj Raj sir who told to me try both ‘Mental Hojava’ and ‘Hold On’ songs and fortunately both worked,” she added.

Meanwhile, as expected Rocking Star Yash, who is also from Mysuru, bagged the Best Actor Award for ‘KGF Chapter-1.’  Prashanth Neel, Director of the movie ‘KGF Chapter-1’ won the Best Director Award.

Best Director: Prashanth Neel (KGF Chapter-1)

Best Actor in Negative Role: Dhananjaya (Tagaru)

Best Debutant Director: Mahesh Kumar (Ayogya)

Best Debut Kannada Actor (Female): Anupama Gowda (Aa Karaala Ratri)

Best Lyrics: Chetan Kumar for Yennammi Yennammi (Ayogya)

Best Cinematographer: Bhuvan Gowda (KGF Chapter-1)

Best comedian: Prakash Thuminad (Sarkari Hiriya Prarthamika Shaale, Kasaragodu)

Best Playback Singer Female: Ananya Bhat (Tagaru)

Best Actress in Supporting Role (Female): Archana Jois (KGF Chapter-1)
