Rs. 30 lakh worth jewellery ‘stolen’ on eve of house-warming ceremony

Mysuru: In a suspected case of theft, Rs.  30 lakh worth jewellery has gone missing, on the eve of a house-warming ceremony at Kanakadasa Nagar in city, in Kuvempunagar Police Station limits.

The incident occurred at the house of Civil Engineer Jagadish on Aug. 17, who was busy with the rituals related to house-warming ceremony of the newly built house on the first floor. The ceremony was scheduled for Aug. 18.

In his Police complaint, Jagadish has stated that he had brought the jewellery kept in the bank locker to home on Aug. 14 itself and had kept the valuables in the same house, the ceremony of which was due to be held. On the eve of the ceremony, he had given a necklace weighing 20 grams to his wife, while he kept the jewellery box containing rest of the valuables, on the window of the room, before participating in the puja. After puja rituals, Jagadish went to the room, only to find jewellery box thrown outside the window. When the box was opened, valuables were missing.

A case has been registered.
