Mysore/Mysuru: A criminal case has been filed against RTI activist M.K. Yeshwanth Kumar for allegedly vandalising office furniture and indulging in a heated altercation with Mysuru Palace Board staff.

The complaint was filed by Deputy Director of Palace Board T.S. Subramanya following escalated tension. Yeshwanth Kumar is alleged to have vandalised a glass-covered table at the Palace Board Office on July 19.

The complaint stated that the RTI activist exchanged heated words with the Deputy Director of the Palace Board even as the District officers attempted to intervene. Yeshwanth Kumar had earlier lodged a complaint to the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) against the Palace Board Deputy Director.

Based on the complaint, Additional Deputy Commissioner had come to probe the allegations at around 10.30 am on July 19. While the inquiry was being done, Yeshwanth Kumar allegedly abused the Palace Board Deputy Director with foul language and also intimidated him.

The complaint stated that the RTI activist broke the glass top of a table. Amid the chaos, Yeshwanth Kumar hurled abusive language at the Palace Board  security staff G. Venkatesh and Yuvaraja when they attempted to resolve the situation. He also threatened to get rid of them.

On the direction of DC, Subramanya has lodged a complaint with Devaraja Police Station. In the light of the incident, the Police have launched a search for Yeshwanth Kumar. Video footage obtained from the shops near the Palace where Yeshwanth Kumar is illegally demanding money has been submitted to the Police.
