Rural Dasara Sports held at Hunsur

Hunsur: As part of Dasara festivities, Rural Dasara Sports was inaugurated by Taluk Panchayat President Padmamma Basavaraju at Muneshwara Kaval Grounds in Hunsur yesterday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Padmamma said that rural women should come out of their houses, take part in such activities and get noticed in various fields.

Sports such as ‘carrying the water-filled pot race’, ‘lemon and spoon race’, ‘three legged race,’ ‘frog race,’ ‘rangoli contest,’ ‘gunny bag race,’ ‘slow cycling race’ and other sports were conducted for both men and women.

Results: Carrying the water-filled pot race: Veronica of Chilkunda- First; Bhoomika of Chikkahunasur – Second and P. Arpitha of Hagaranahalli- Third.

Lemon and spoon race: Bhoomika of Chikkahunasur-First; Kavitha of Hunsur – Second and Krishnaveni of C.B.T Colony – Third.

Three legged race: Kavya-Dhanu (First); Arpitha-Bhoomika (Second) and Veronica-Veena (Third).

Frog race: Veronica of Chilkunda-First; H.V. Suma of Hunsur-Second and Bhoomika of Chikkahunasur-Third.

Rangoli contest: Suma of Hunsur-First; P. Sindhu-Second and Pavithra – Third.

Men’s Division

Gunny bag race: Abhilash of Keregalakoppal-First; Naveen of Mallegowdanakoppal-Second and Prem of Hunsur-Third.

Slow cycling race: Pruthvi of Hunsur-First; Karthik Gowda of Doddakoppal-Second and Sachin Kumar of Moodalakoppal-Third.

50kg fertilizer bag carrying race: Gurumurthy of Hunsur-First; Pruthvi of Hunsur-Second and Nanjunda of Yashodharapura-Third.

Three legged race: Gurumurthy-Karthik of Hunsur (First); Naveen-Gopal of Mallegowdanakoppal (Second) and Karthik-Ajithkumar of Doddakoppal (Third).

120kg boulder lifting contest: Nagesh of Kalkunike-First; Chandrashekar of Hunsur-Second and Mohanraj of Gaddige-Third.

Those who have bagged the first place in the above events will be participating in the district-level meet to be held in Mysuru.

Tahsildar Mohankumar, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Krishnakumar, City Municipal Commissioner Shivappanayak and others were present.
