Sachi Ponnamma Memorial Hall inaugurated at MYCAS College to honour its first Principal

Mysuru: MYCAS College, Mysuru, inaugurated the Sachi Ponnamma Memorial Hall in honour of late Maneyapanda Sachi Ponnamma, who served the institution with exceptional dedication from its inception in 2012 until 2022, first as Principal and later as Director, Learning & Development.

Sachi Ponnamma, an academician par excellence, an able administrator and a disciplinarian, bravely battled cancer for eight years, never allowing her spirit or commitment to falter. Her values and principles continue to serve as a guiding light at MYCAS College.

In recognition of her invaluable contributions to the institution’s growth and development, the College management has dedicated a hall in her memory. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sachi Ponnamma’s family, friends, colleagues and former students.

Dr. Aisha M. Sheriff (retd.), Sr. Professor and former Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, who was the chief guest, lauded Sachi Ponnamma for laying a strong academic and administrative foundation at MYCAS and commended the management for this meaningful tribute.

Speaking on the occasion, G. Ramacharan, Director of Operations, MYCAS, emphasised that the institution continues to uphold the principles and standards set by Sachi Ponnamma.

 Archana, Principal of MYCAS PU College, remembered Sachi Ponnamma’s ability to offer timely solutions to professional and personal challenges, providing a sense of comfort and guidance to all.

Faculty members Rashmi Kumar, Sristi Rajeev, Ramana Kaveri and S. Savitha shared memories of their time working under her inspiring leadership.

Suyog Uthaiah, elder son of Sachi Ponnamma, extended gratitude to the College management and staff for honouring her memory with a thoughtful initiative.
