Mysuru: Former MLA and City BJP President L. Nagendra has said that party workers will stage an overnight protest across the State on Monday (Aug. 17) if Ballari Rural MLA B. Nagendra, who has been inducted into the Ministry of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, is not sacked from the Cabinet.
Addressing media persons at the City BJP Office in Chamarajapuram, Nagendra said that Minister B. Nagendra was previously a Minister in Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet and was arrested on charges of his involvement in multi-crore irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. He is yet to get a clean chit in the case, but has been made a Minister again.
He questioned whether the Congress High Command was pressured to accord a Cabinet berth to Nagendra, who allegedly siphoned off funds meant for the welfare of STs. If the charges are proved, he will have to resign again. Besides, 31 cases under different charges have been booked against him, L. Nagendra added.
A memorandum demanding the sacking of Minister B. Nagendra from the Cabinet will be submitted to the DC. If no action is taken against him, BJP workers will stage an overnight protest on Monday, he threatened.
MLA T.S. Srivatsa, BJP Rural Committee President Kumbrahalli Subbanna and former Syndicate Member of Mysore University E.C. Ningaraj Gowda were present at the press meet.
