Sir,
This refers to the news item about Rangayana, Mysuru, published in Star of Mysore dated Sept. 14 and 17. The B.S. Yediyurappa’s BJP Government in Karnataka has given marching orders to the State’s prestigious theatre repertory Rangayana’s Directors without citing any valid, justifiable reason.
According to senior theatre personality Prasanna, who was earlier the Director of Rangayana Mysuru, their job had a tenure of three years. If so, why not go to the Court and get a stay and then an order nullifying Government’s sack order?
Looking at this kind of apparently prejudiced action by new Governments, ignoring the creative genius of the theatre personalities, I feel these appointees, before accepting the job, should get into a three-year contractual arrangement so that no matter which Government comes to power during the three-year term, these Directors cannot be sacked. Future candidates for this office must consider this option to protect their tenure and also self-respect.
