Sacked Music Varsity employees threaten to launch hunger strike

Mysore/Mysuru: Urging for continuation of service and release of their salary dues, sacked contract employees of the city’s KSGH Music and Performing Arts University, who are on an indefinite stir in front of the University campus on JLB road in Lakshmipuram for the past 53 days, have now threatened to launch a hunger strike if their just demands are not met.

Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here on Friday, Shantaraju, President of Dalit Welfare Trust, which has extended support for the ongoing strike, alleged that the State Government has turned a blind eye to the plight of the striking contract employees of the Music Varsity, who were all of a sudden removed from work in February last.

Accusing the Music Varsity authorities of acting in an arbitrary and apathetic  manner, Shantaraju said that many representations made to concerned Ministers, MP and Legislators have yielded no result so far. As such, the sacked employees are forced to launch a hunger stir until the University takes them back to work, he said and urged the Government to come to their rescue. Writer N. Divakar, Trust office-bearers Chikkandani and Nanjundaswamy were present at the press meet.
