Sale of low quality, expired food items: Rs. 1.35 lakh penalty imposed on four shop owners

Mysuru: Four shop owners, who were found selling low quality and expired food items in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) limits have been fined Rs. 1.35 lakh.

When the officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Food Safety & Drug Administration Department and Food Testing Laboratory conducted an inspection at the four shops, they were found selling low quality and expired food items.

Kamal Fruits Processing and Beverages was found manufacturing tomato sauce using bad quality tomatoes, following which Rs. 50,000 fine was imposed on the owner. Likewise, Ambika Traders at Old Santhepet has been fined Rs. 10,000.

JP Specialty Foods at T.K. Layout has been fined Rs. 25,000 and Vishal Bar and Restaurant on Akbar Road has been fined Rs. 50,000, according to a press release.
