Demand to sack Rangayana Director by KRHVJ Vedike

Mysuru: Jnanpith Awardee and Chairman of Kendra Sahitya Akademi Dr. Chandrashekhara Kambara has lodged a complaint with City Police Commissioner against staging and bad portrayal of his play ‘Sambashiva Prahasana.’

In a complaint lodged through e-mail, playwright Dr. Kambara has sought the Police Commissioner to take action against whomsoever related to the case. He is also learnt to have spoken to Police Commissioner B. Ramesh and expressed his regrets over the manner in which the essence of the play was changed and staged at Rangayana.

Dr. Kambara has stated, “It is highly regretting that Rangayana went ahead with staging of the play without seeking my permission. Secondly, there is no room for character assassination of any individual in my play. Hence, action should be taken against those who staged the play, gave the permission and the Play Director for meddling with the contents and creating an untoward atmosphere.”

The Police Commissioner has assured to act suitably.

Vedike’s  deadline

Meanwhile, Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha (KRHVJ) Vedike President K.S. Shivaramu has warned of laying a siege to Rangayana, if the authorities fail to initiate action within a week against those who tweaked the content of the play ‘Sambashiva Prahasana.’

Addressing mediapersons at Pathrakartara Bhavan yesterday, he said ‘derogatory remarks have been made against both former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar in the play. Hence, action must be taken against whoever is associated with the play.’

Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa should be sacked within one week and action must be taken against Play Director Karthik Upamanyu and other officials of theatre repertory. Or else Vedike will lay siege to Rangayana, he warned.
