Samithi condemns delay in holding MCC elections

Mysuru: Condemning the delay in the conduct of elections to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), activists of Mysuru Mahanagarapalike Chunavane Horata Samithi staged a demonstration in front of MCC Office on Sayyaji Rao Road here yesterday.

Urging the Government to leave the decision of holding the MCC polls to the Election Commission (EC), the protesters demanded that the Government should not interfere in the powers of the EC. Asking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to enact a new Law in this regard, they warned that a massive public movement  would be launched if there is any further delay in elections. They also wanted the Government to give a free hand to EC for exercising its powers regarding the conduct of elections.

The activists held placards with Kannada slogans – ‘Pratinidhigalillade Bekabitti Kamagari  Maaduthiruva Adhikarigalige Dhikkara,’ ‘2023-ralli Baaki Idda Rs.40 Koti Karavasooli, 2025-ralli Rs.450 Kotige yerike,’ ‘Chunayitha Pratinidhigalillade Diwaliyalli Paalike’ and ‘Greater Mysuru Kybidi, Chunaavanege Hakkottaya Maadi’ etc.

The Samithi comprised members from Aam Admi Party (AAP), SDPI, KRS Party, Kannada and other organisations.

Historian Prof. P.V. Nanjaraj Urs, KRS Party office-bearer Nagendra, AAP’s Rangaiah, Veeresh Kumar, Sosale Siddaraju and Suresh Babu, SDPI State Vice-President Puttananjaiah, Tabrez Sait, Kannada activist Aravind Sharma, Nalabeedi Ravi, Bhagyashri, Somaraj Urs, Nityananda Vittu, Gopi, Adarsh Urs, M.F. Kaleem and others took part.
