Sandalwood tree chopped in Kukkarahalli Lake

Mysuru: An incident of miscreants chopping a sandalwood tree at the Kukkarahalli Lake premises has come to light in city.

However, the miscreants, who could not carry the sandalwood, have left the chopped tree at its place.

One of the morning walkers noticed a group of three people chopping the tree with an electric saw on the Hunsur Road side on Monday morning at around 10.30 am.

Since he was alone, the morning walker did not question the trio and walked away quietly. Later, the person sent the photographs of the chopped sandalwood tree to Star of Mysore. When enquired both Jayalakshmipuram Police and Forest sleuths, they said that the matter had not been brought to their notice.

When SOM wanted to visit the place and take some photograph, the permission was denied. People were also seen discussing how the miscreants had gained entry into Kukkarahalli Lake despite security being deployed at all entry and exit points.
