Sapient hosts Inter-Collegiate State-level Tournaments

Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Vijayanagar, Mysuru, had organised 2nd Inter-Collegiate State-level Hockey Tournament at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city recently.

In all, 20 Colleges  from across the State took part in the Tournament which was inaugurated by Daljeet Ram Choudhary, Chairman of  Sapient Education Trust, along with city hockey coach Ashok and Sapient College of Commerce and Management Principal Dr. K. Ganesh.

After hard fought battle on the field for long days, Cauvery College, Virajpet, emerged as the Champions beating St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru, 1-0.

The Champions team got Rs.25,000 cash prize along with the trophy and the runner got Rs.15,000 and the trophy. The trophies were presented by Sapient Education Trust Secretary Leela Choudhary at the Awards Ceremony on the concluding day.

Football Tourney

Also, the College had hosted an Inter-Collegiate Football Tourney called “Sapientia 7s” at VFC Grounds. The event was inaugurated by Corporator Subbaiah. In all, 18 teams from across the State participated. In the finals, NIE beat SJCE to clinch the winner’s trophy.

Tennis Ball Cricket

In the Inter-Collegiate Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament called “Sapient Super 8s,” hosted by the Sapient College, SJCE bagged the winner’s trophy by defeating Maharaja’s College in the finals.

Earlier, the Tourney, which saw participation from 22 teams from Mysuru, was inaugurated by Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Director (in-Charge), Department of Physical Education (DPE), University  of Mysore (UoM).
