Saraswathipuram residents accord civic honour on MP

June 15, 2026

Mysuru: “Being felicitated and receiving awards is not achievement. Instead, the work we do for the cause of people is the real achievement,” said Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.

He was speaking after being accorded civic honour by ‘Former Mayor R. Lingappa haagu Snehitara Balaga’ at Sri Rama Mandira in Tengina Topu (Coconut Grove) located on Saraswathipuram 2nd Main Road here yesterday.

Stating that he has got an opportunity to meet the promises made during LS polls, Yaduveer said, he believes good fortune for him is to do good work by remembering the history of his erstwhile Royal Family members. “Bhagavad Gita explains the importance of Kayaka and several Acharyas have also propagated this. I believe that doing work as per the words of great saints and scholars is more important. Our ancestors have been doing good work for generations and the atmosphere of Mysuru and the citizens are responsible for this. It is the people who shape our personality. Humility is not new for us and it has been maintained by the erstwhile Mysore rulers for long. Humility is in our blood and I will continue this,” the MP said.

Stating that Saraswathipuram got its name because it was famous for education (Goddess Saraswathi), Yaduveer said, he felt deeply honoured for having been felicitated in such a place. “I was elected as an MP because of your votes, for which I am grateful,” he added.

MLA T.S. Srivatsa, who delivered the felicitation address, said that Yaduveer has been functioning just like Rajarshi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

“The MP mingles with the people as a commoner. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was impressed with the activities of young Yaduveer when he (Modi) took part in the International Day of Yoga celebrations in the Mysore Palace premises in 2021, hand-picked Yaduveer as the BJP candidate for the 2024 LS polls from Mysuru-Kodagu seat, with a foresight. The MP answers his opponents silently by doing work,” Srivatsa said adding that Yaduveer Wadiyar is accessible to the public.

City BJP President L. Nagendra, Saraswathipuram Shankar Jayanti Sabha President Sundaresh, Saraswathipuram Sri Vasavi Sneha Vrunda President Shantaram, programme organiser and former Mayor R. Lingappa and others were present on the occasion.
