Mysore/Mysuru: Did you know that the Government takes care of the cost of treatment for COVID? This can be done only if the patient is registered under the Suvarna Aarogya Suraksha Trust (SAST). Officials said families are advised to alert the doctors in the initial days itself to convert cases to SAST. 

For those who cannot afford costly hospital treatment, there is an option to get free treatment in Government quota. Under SAST, the Government takes care of the treatment. 

The protocol is that once someone tests positive, they must call 104 and get an allocated bed under SAST using their BU code. If they tested positive after admission, then they have to inform the doctors and convert the bed under SAST in the initial days. Even if they get it changed, they will have to pay the bill initially, until the case is converted to SAST.

If a person tests positive, the family must get their BU code, call 104 to get a bed allocated under SAST. If a person tests positive after admission to hospital, the doctors must be informed ASAP and the bed can be converted to a SAST allocation, if the family can’t afford the treatment.
