Save Dalvoy Lake from deterioration & destruction

Sir,

The news item “19 Lakes in Mysuru get a new lease of life” (Star of Mysore dated Aug. 16) is very timely and refreshing and I thank the Mysuru ZP CEO for this initiative.

I live close to Dalvoy Lake. On Aug. 14, I could see a dead cow on the Lake bund from my balcony (see photo). This is not the first such incident in recent past.

Dalvoy Lake is totally uncared for. In fact recently a significant portion of the trees and bushes were destroyed forcing the small birds, sparrows and peacocks, which were living there happily all these days, to flee.

Further, the area adjoining the Lake in Bandipalya has become a breeding ground  and  dump yard for wastes and waste materials from other pockets of nearby areas.

This Lake has a great potential for beautification like Kukkarahalli Lake. Boating can also be introduced and a good walking track can be developed in the park with lighting facility.

Dalvoy Lake has the potential to become a mini tourist spot if developed well.

I request the authorities, especially the Zilla Panchayat CEO to focus on this Lake also for improvement and cleanliness among other Lakes.

Please save this Lake from further deterioration, destruction and pollution.
