‘Save Mysuru from land-grabbers’

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike will launch ‘Save Mysuru from land-grabbers’ campaign soon.

Addressing a press meet here this morning, K.S. Shivaramu, President of the Vedike, said there has been war of words between the elected representatives and the officers over the encroachment of Government land in and around the city.

Allegations of land-grabbing have been made against the elected reps that need to be probed impartially. The probe by Regional Commissioner was nothing but an eyewash as powerful politicians will use their influence to get the inquiry report in their favour.

K.R. Nagar MLA S.R. Mahesh, who has been accused of building the Convention Hall on Raja Kaluve, claims that his property has been in his wife’s name. In that case, the MLA must tell people the sources of income of his wife. In fact, the area on which the Hall had been constructed was identified for of residential sites. But, the MLA used his influence to get the land converted into commercial purpose. “I demand the State Government to order an inquiry and punish those land-grabbers no matter which political party they belonged to,” he said.

He demanded MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev to tender resignation to his post on ‘moral grounds’ as he has been charged of joining hands with MLA Mahesh in grabbing the Government land. A fair inquiry was not possible in case of his continuing in the current post.
