MCC Commissioner inspects road quality, asphalt thickness

Mysuru: In view of the upcoming Dasara festival, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has taken up road asphalting works on key routes in the city to welcome tourists and dignitaries.

Among the major works is the stretch of Sayyaji Rao Road from K.R. Circle to Agrahara, being taken up at a cost of Rs. 13 crore. The existing road dividers along the stretch have been completely removed to facilitate fresh asphalting, which has already begun.

The project also includes repair and development of footpaths along the route. Signboards displaying details of the project, including the timeline and budget, have been installed at the site.

Asphalting is currently being taken up on the stretch from Srimanmaharaja Samskrita Graduation and Post Graduation Centre (Pathashala Circle) to K.R. Circle. Though white-topping had initially been planned on several roads, it was suspended on this stretch to avoid delays during the festival.

MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha and a team of officers inspected the ongoing asphalting work this morning. Officials used specialised thickness and quality measurement scales to check whether the asphalt thickness met the prescribed road engineering standards.
