JSS University guest house inaugurated

Mysuru: Expressing concern over the increase in the number of Family Courts, especially in Bengaluru, Supreme Court  Judge Justice Mohan M. Shantanagoudar said that the demand for more Family Courts was not a good sign.

He was speaking after inaugurating a guest house built by the JSS University at a cost of Rs. 15 crore on JSS Medical Institutions premises at Bannimantap here yesterday.

Pointing out that there are 15 Family Courts in Bengaluru and there was a proposal to establish another four Courts, Justice Shantanagoudar observed that aping of western culture was the main reason for increasing domestic violence.

Bemoaning that we were moving towards western culture while at the same time forgetting our very own rich culture and heritage, Justice Shantanagoudar lamented the increase in the number of old-age homes, which are offering facilities on the lines of star hostels.

Highlighting on the need for worshipping our parents, he stressed on the need for humanity in society.

Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri, in his address, observed that spiritual poverty is the cause of all social evils.

Noting that respecting elders was one of the important factor in development of the society, he expressed concern over increasing corrupt practices and unethical actions.

Maintaining that economical and social exploitation still persisted in the society, Justice Hinchigere highlighted the need for doing good things in life, so that the society is benefited.
