School auto and van drivers groomed on road safety

August 13, 2017

Mysuru: The City Police had organised a workshop on Road safety for drivers of autorickshaws, vans and buses used for ferrying students to schools at Platinum Jubilee Hall at J.K. Grounds here this morning.

Conducting the workshop Traffic ACP K.N. Madaiah suggested  auto and van drivers to use only RTO approved LPG kits for greater safety.

He pointed out that drivers usually tend to flout traffic rules on Ring Road and hence advised drivers to follow lane discipline. He further asked them not to jump signals.

Madaiah said that modern traffic signal lights with sensors to assess traffic density would be introduced soon which would ease the traffic flow with better regulation.

About 200 vehicle drivers participated in the workshop. They alleged that many KSRTC buses were flouting road safety norms resulting in accidents.

Replying to that Madaiah said that law was common to all. Citing an example he said that a KSRTC bus plying from Chamarajanagar was found jumping a traffic signal and the driver was booked for offence. He assured that the driving licence would be scrapped depending on the gravity of offence.

Inspectors and staff of all traffic Police Stations were present.
