Scooter seized for using fake Registration Number

December 25, 2019

Mysuru:  The N.R.Traffic Police have seized a scooter as the rider used a  fake registration number in order to avoid paying penalty for traffic offences.

After being shocked to find that he had been served a notice for payment of penalty for helmetless riding near Hootagalli Junction on KRS Road, one Aurobindo Biswas, a resident of Kuvempunagar who owned a blue coloured Let’s scooter bearing Reg No.KA-09/HF 3106, went to the automation centre at the city Police Commissioner’s Office for a check, when it was found that the rider of a white coloured Suzuki Access scooter had used his (Biswas) registration number to avoid being penalised for traffic offences. It was also discovered that  the white coloured Suzuki Access scooter had five cases of traffic violation registered against it.

Following a complaint by Aurobindo Biswas, ACP (Traffic) Sandesh Kumar directed N.R.Traffic Police to trace the white coloured Access scooter.

The N.R.Traffic Police during their routine vehicle checking drive on Dec.23 came across the said scooter on Ashoka road. During the check of vehicle records, it was found that the actual registration number of the white coloured Suzuki Access scooter was KA-09/HF 3105  and the scooter rider was using Aurobindo’s scooter registration number (KA-09/HF 3106) in order to avoid being penalised for traffic violations. The Police then seized the scooter and further investigation revealed that the Suzuki Let’s Scooter (KA-09/HF 3105) belonged to one Abhilash, who had mortgaged it to one Vinod of Yelwal in Mysuru taluk. Vinod, who was currently in possession of the Suzuki Let’s scooter, was using Aurobindo’s vehicle Reg.No (KA-09/HF 3106) as a deceit to avoid being penalised for traffic offences.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner K.T.  has cautioned the vehicle owners against using fake Reg. No. plates as it is a criminal offence. Warning of action against vehicle owners who use fake number plates, he has appealed the public to inform the nearest Police Station if they come across fake vehicle number plates.
