Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing the State Government of withdrawing cases booked against communal elements and bogus cattle protectors, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) staged a demonstration near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle (FTS Circle) at Gandhinagar here on Monday.
“While the State Government’s decision to withdraw cases against Kannada activists and farmer leaders is welcome, at the same time it is outrageous to withdraw cases against communal elements and the so-called cow protectors, who resorted to goondaism and violence in the name of cattle. The State Congress Government which came to power after dethroning the Anti-people and Anti-Dalit Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP Government, is now out to drop cases against communal elements, which is a travesty of justice. The Government should answer why it dropped cases against Sri Ram Sene Founder Pramod Muthalik who had often made hate speeches targeting the minorities, ” the protestors said.
They demanded the Government to re-look on dropping cases against communal elements and raised slogans against the State Government for toeing a soft line towards hate and provocative speeches giving rise to communal tensions.
SDPI State President Abdul Majid, office-bearers S. Swamy, Shafiulla, Firdose, Ayesha Jabi, Fardeen and others were present.
