Second marriage: Woman drags husband to Police Station

July 9, 2018

Mysuru: A woman, alleging that her husband was getting married the second time, barged into a temple along with her relatives and brought her husband to City Police Commissioner’s office here yesterday seeking justice. Later, she took him to Vijayanagar Police Station as there were no higher officials present there.

While the woman, who took her husband to the Police Station, has been identified as Savitha, the husband who was to get married is Rajachari, a native of Gaadi Hosahalli in Hunsur taluk and a Head Constable attached to City Armed Reserve Police force in city.

It is learnt that Rajachari and Savitha were married for 18 years and have two children. But due to differences in opinion, the couple are said to be living separately since three years.

Yesterday, Savitha, who came to know that Rajachari was getting married at Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple in Vijayanagar, rushed to the temple along with her relatives, where they reportedly caught hold of Rajachari, who was about to tie the sacred knots and dragged him to City Police Commissioner’s office at Nazarbad here to seek justice from the Top Cop. As the City Police Commissioner was not present, Savitha, along with her relatives who had detained Rajachari there, waited for the Police Commissioner to arrive and at about 3 pm took Rajachari to Vijayanagar Police Station.

Meanwhile, N.R. Sub-Division ACP C. Gopal, who arrived at the Police Station, conducted an enquiry during which Rajachari told the ACP that he had obtained a divorce and produced the Ex-Party Divorce Order copy given by the Court to ACP C. Gopal.

When the ACP enquired Savitha about Rajachari obtaining divorce from her, Savitha is said to have told the ACP that Rajachari had taken her signature to get a life insurance policy done and she had not signed any divorce papers besides alleging that Rajachari had cheated her.

Soon, wordy duel ensued between the relatives of both Rajachari and Savitha who had come to the Police Station. Later, ACP C. Gopal told Rajachari to produce the original divorce copy given by the Court besides asking Savitha to prove her allegations the next day (July 9).

A Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) was filed at the Police Station yesterday and the Police asked them to come back with relevant documents to the Police Station the next day (July 9). No FIR or a case was registered.

Meanwhile, both the parties are yet to arrive at Vijayanagar Police Station today, when we went to the Press.
