Mysuru: A life-size statue of former Suttur Mutt pontiff Dr. Sri Rajendra Swamiji, placed inside a howdah-like structure mounted on a caparisoned robotic elephant, was taken out in a procession from the JSS College, Ooty Road campus, to Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill this morning. The procession was held as part of the 111th Jayanti celebrations of the Swamiji.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji performed puja to the Nandi Dhwaja accompanying the procession. A students’ band and a rendition of Kombu Kahale added to the festive atmosphere, while colourful umbrellas were also part of the procession.

Junior Pontiff of Suttur Mutt Sri Jayarajendra Swamiji, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Secretary-1 S.P. Manjunath, Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Administrator S.P. Udayshankar and Chief Executive of JSS College Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah were present.
