Selected for DVG Muktaka Sahitya Award

Mysore/Mysuru: Muktaka Poet M. Muttuswamy of Mysuru has been selected for DVG Muktaka Sahitya Award-2020 instituted by Karnataka Muktaka Sahitya Academy.

The award will be presented during the Academy’s 21st anniversary celebrations to be held on Feb. 28 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm at Mysore K.Vasudevacharya Bhavan (Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha), JLB Road.

Muttuswamy is a Kannada teacher and has authored more than 15 books of Muktaka Sahitya. The latest book ‘Yadukula Vaibhavageetha’ is a compilation of four line limerick in the Lavani style. It depicts the chronological narration of Yadukula dynasty of Mysore rulers. Besides, as  teacher, he had prepared teaching models out of non-useable household materials.

On Feb. 28 at 10.30 am, there will be music recital of Muktaka and Kannada songs by Shubha Raghavendra. At 11.30 am, the book ‘Yadukula Vaibhavageetha’ authored by Muttuswamy will be released by Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy, former Principal, JSS College, Chamarajanagar. Rajashekara Kadamba, Academy President,  S. Ramaprasad, Hon. President and Founder of the Academy, will be present.

The Muktaka Sahitya award will be presented to Muttuswamy by Prof. H.S. Lakshminarayana Bhatta, former Physics professor of ‘Kaggada Bhatta’ fame, Bengaluru. 

On this occasion, five personalities — Rameshwari Varma (cinema & theatre), Dr. S.A. Mohan Krishna (Science & Technology), L. Shivalingappa (sculptor), Suneetha Chandra Kumar (Sugama Sangeeta), Amshi Prasannakumar (journalism) and Rtn. H.R. Keshav (Rotary Service) will be felicitated.
