Selected for Halabhavi Award

Mysuru: Senior artist M.G. Vachedamath (in pic.) of Hubballi has been selected for Kalaguru D.V. Halabhavi Award (2016) given by JSS Mahavidyapeetha. He will be presented the  award at a function to take place in the city on May 6.

Vachedamath, who was born at Lakshmeshwar in Shirahatti taluk of Gadag District, served as a drawing teacher at RLS High School in Dharwad. His noted artworks include ‘Akkamahadeviyu Kadalige Horata Drushya’, painted on an 84 ft. canvas in 1959 and Basava Roopa Darshana in 1968. He was conferred the Karnataka Lalithakala Academy Award in 1998-99.
