Mysuru: A two-day State-level seminar and workshop on ‘Education and upliftment of oppressed communities’ organised jointly by University of Mysore, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Reserch Centre and PG Department of Maharani’s Arts College began yesterday at the college premises here.
Inaugurating the programme, Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayanand Mane hailed Ambedkar’s far-sightedness and knowledge. He said that a statue of the visionary would be installed in front of the Library Block in Manasagangothri and the same would be unveiled by the Chief Minister on Nov. 19. He clarified that Ambedkar should not be viewed as a role model for any particular community but by one and all.
The two-day event featured several sessions with resource persons delivering lectures on various contemporary topics.
Mysore University Registrar D. Bharathi, Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. J. Somashekar, College Principal Dr. M. Channabasavegowda, Ambedkar Research Centre Coordinator Dr.S. Narendra Kumar and others were present.
