Mysuru: A two-day National Seminar on ‘Spiritual flow of Dharma, culture and patriotism in the thought of Swami Vivekananda,’ organised by the Department of Studies in Philosophy, Swami Vivekananda Chair of University of Mysore, commenced this morning at EMMRC auditorium in Manasagangothri here.
Researchers and students of Philosophy are participating in the Seminar.
Inaugurating the programme, Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama, Dharwad President Swami Vijayananda Saraswathi opined that Dharma has been misconstrued by people today.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, the Swamiji clarified that Dharma is not just going to temples and offering puja but is defined qualitatively with reference to service and sacrifice. He opined that despite tremendous growth in Science and Technology, a person should introspect himself or herself in behaviour and culture.
Presiding over the programme, Vivekananda Chair retired Visiting Professor G.S. Jayadeva contended that such programmes would redefine culture and patriotism for the younger generation to identify themselves better.
Regional Institute of Education (RIE) Principal Dr. Y. Srikanth was the chief guest.
Seminar Director Dr. S. Venkatesh, Vivekananda Chair Visiting Professor V.N. Sheshagiri Rao, Assistant Professor Dr. M. Daniel and others were present.
