Senior journalist Aswal Shankaregowda passes away

Hunsur:  Senior journalist and farmer leader of Hunsur taluk, Aswal Shankaregowda (52), passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru on Monday.

Shankaregowda, who was seriously injured in a road accident near Tattekere in the taluk on May 5, was admitted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru, from where he was shifted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru a few days ago.

But he passed away on the morning of Monday after failing to respond to the treatment. He leaves behind his wife Lakshmamma, son Vijay, daughter Asha and a host of relatives and friends.

Apart from being a journalist for 20 years, Shankaregowda had served as Singaramaranalli Gram Panchayat Vice-President, Hunsur taluk General Secretary of KRRS and Secretary of Aswal Milk Producers Co-op. Union.

His last rites were performed at his native village Aswal. The Taluk Journalists Association held a meeting yesterday to condole his death.
