Mysuru: For the first time in the history  of the nearly 100-year-old Mysore Race Club (MRC) at its present premises at the foot of Chamundi Hill manual gates have been replaced by seven automated Turnstile Gates.

Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy inaugurated the gates this morning. Out of the seven automated gates installed, three are at the main entrance, two in the grandstand, one each in car park and stable entry.

The main reason for such a step is to check the entry of unauthorised visitors and for security purpose. Earlier, lot of people were entering the MRC without buying any tickets. Bar code tickets will be issued to public which will be scanned before they gain entry into the Club.

The entry to the Club Members and staff is by bio-metric system. Acting Chairman L. Vivekananda, former Chairmen B.G. Muthappa and Hanuman Prasad, Stewards H. Kusumakar Shetty and  Dr. N. Nithyananda Rao, Committee Members Shankar Rao, Suresh Kumar, Ramesh, MRC Secretary K.G. Ananthraj Urs and others were present.
