Sewing machines distribution by MCC

February 24, 2018

Mysuru: An alleged internal squabble in MCC resulted in women beneficiaries returning home empty-handed and disappointed without getting the assured sewing machines.

The Poverty Eradication Cell of MCC had asked 989 women beneficiaries to collect the sewing machines at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry here this morning to be distributed by Mayor  Bhagyavathi at 10 am.

A lot of women from far off places had come on time. Bhagyavathi too reportedly came at 10.30 am and left in a hurry to come back again at 11.30 am but did not distribute the sewing machines. When SOM asked Bhagyavathi about the issue, she just said that the Standing Committee was unaware of the event.

However, MCC Additional Commissioner Ravindra contended that only documentations was being done today and the sewing machines would be  distributed at the Zonal Offices at a later date.

In the bargain, the hapless women returned fuming with despair for no fault of theirs.

It remained a mystery as to why the sewing machines were not distributed.
