Sexual harassment case: Vidyahamsa Bharati Swamiji’s disciple Anil Kumar arrested

Swamiji including two accused likely to surrender today

Mysuru, Sept.22 (RK&KS)- Kuvempunagar Police, on Thursday night, have arrested the third accused in the alleged sexual harassment case on a woman in city.

The arrested is 52-year-old Anil Kumar Kaushik, a resident of Chamarajpet in Bengaluru and a disciple of Vidyahamsa Bharati Swamiji, who is the second accused.

Anil Kumar has been accused of bringing women devotees to the Swamiji by telling them that the Swamiji was a  miracle man who then used to allegedly exploit them sexually. The Swamiji was in city for Chaturmas.

A woman had lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against the Swamiji and others at Kuvempunagar Police Station on Sept.7. The Swamiji and other accused had gone absconding since then.

Last night, Kuvempunagar Police arrested Anil and produced him before the Magistrate, who has remanded him (Anil) to judicial custody. Sources said that the Swamiji and other accused were trying to obtain Anticipatory Bail and are likely to surrender before the Court today.
