Mysuru: Demanding postponement of Degree exams, students under the banner of Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a demonstration in front of Crawford Hall here recently.
Noting that the University of Mysore degree exams are scheduled to commence from Nov.15, the students said that though the colleges commenced in July, a few classes are held due to shortage of Guest lecturers, resulting in unfinished portions.
In such a situation, it is unscientific to conduct the exams from Nov.15 when the curriculum is largely incomplete, they argued and demanded that the exams be postponed in the better interests of the students.
Stating that most of the students of Government colleges are from a poor background, the protesters strongly opposed the collection of Rs.2,000 as exam fees from the students. Alleging that the University has been collecting marks card fees though it has failed to provide marks cards of semester exams, the protesters wanted the University to stop collecting additional fees.
SFI Office-bearers T.S. Vijaykumar, T. Prajwal, S.K. Chiragmurthy, Santosh Jadhav and others were present.
