Mysore/Mysuru: Brahmavidya and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) will be organising ‘Shatamana RaSa’ as a prelude to the birth centenary celebrations of Padma Shri Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. R. Sathyanarayana (RaSa) and Indian Musicology Day, tomorrow (May 9) at 5.30 pm at the Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Hall (Senate Bhavan), Manasagangothri.
The programme will be inaugurated by Karnataka State Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ahalaya Sharma. Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Varanasi, former Director Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Titular Head of Anegondi Royal Family Krishnadevaraya, SVYM CEO Savitha Sulugodu, former MLC G. Madhusudhan and Mysore Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya will be the chief guests. Veena Maestro Prof. R. Visweswaran will preside.
Natyaguru Dr. Aloka Kanungo, Vid. Srikantham Nagendra Shastri, Vid. Madhukaram Prashanth Iyengar and Kanakaraju will be present as special invitees.
The event will feature RaSa Sangeetha Goshti, a musical ensemble based on the compositions of Dr. R. Sathyanarayana, directed by Vid. Sumukha Srivatsa, Vidushi Vyshnavi Datta and Dr. Ambika Shastri. Vidwan Sriharsha and troupe will present an invocation through D.V.G. kritis.
Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Head of the Kannada Department at KSOU, will speak on ‘Gamaka Kaleyalli Jeevana Kale,’ explaining the art of living through Gamaka.
Dr. Prashanth Bhat of Ayurdhama, Bengaluru, will give a talk on ‘Arogya Dinachari,’ focusing on the Ayurvedic daily routine.
On the occasion, several eminent personalities will be honoured for their lifetime achievements. The Srividya Shastra Suri Award will be presented to Vidwan Rajeshwara Shastri Joshi, noted Sanskrit scholar and creator of Dharwad Panchanga from Dharwad.
Shatamana RaSa Commemorative Awards will be conferred on danseuse Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy for Bharatanatyam, Karnatak music exponent Vidwan Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and noted Indologist Dr. Guido Zanderigo from Italy
Book release
The programme will also witness the release the book Dr. R. Sathyanarayana’s Srividya Shodashika: Trayee Chitkala, compiled by Dr. R.S. Nandakumar.
A special photo selfie booth featuring cultural titans Dr. R. Sathyanarayana, Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, Swami Vivekananda and D.V. Gundappa will be a unique attraction for the audience at the venue.
