Shoot-Out Case: CID detains two persons in Punjab

June 23, 2019

Mysuru:  The Crime Investigation Department (CID), have detained two persons in Punjab in connection with the  May 16 Shoot-Out incident at Hebbal Ring Road junction in city, according to sources.

In the shoot-out carried out by the then Vijayanagar Inspector B.G. Kumar, Punjab-based Sukwinder Singh was shot dead, while his two accomplices had fled from the spot, according to the complaint by the Inspector.

The Shoot-out took place at about 9.30 am and though a case was registered on that day itself, the case was transferred to the CID.

Sukwinder Singh, along with his two accomplices, had come to Mysuru in connection with exchange of demonetised currency notes with genuine currencies. On May 16, they had come in a car and were waiting near an apartment on Hebbal Ring Road junction, when Inspector Kumar, acting on a tip off from an informant, raided the place and when the people in the car tried to attack the Police, Inspector Kumar had opened fire on them in self defence, Inspector Kumar had stated in his complaint.

After the CID took over the investigation and based on its findings, the team left for Punjab and with the help of the local Police and Intelligence Wing, they have detained two persons and are questioning them, it is learnt. Once the CID gathers all information, the truth about the shoot-out incident would come out and once the CID team gets all the details pertaining to the case, they would submit a report to the Government through the DG&IGP, sources said.
