Six poachers held at Pushpagiri

Somwarpet:  The Forest Department personnel have arrested six poachers for killing wild animals at Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary.

The arrested poachers have been identified as T.P. Muddaiah, Somaiah, Ganesh and Lokesh of Kumbaragadige village and V.K. Manu and Kashi of Muttlu village in the taluk. Another accused escaped when the Forest personnel arrested them.

The Forest Department personnel have seized a total of 40 kg meat of Sambar, Porcupine, monkey and other rare animals, three Single Barrel Gun, six mobile phones and nine knives.

Pushpagiri Sanctuary RFO Srinivasa Nayak, Somwarpet RFO Lakshmikanth, DRFO Dushyanth and staff arrested the poachers when they were hunting in Bhakti Betta in the sanctuary.

The accused were produced before the Court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
