Sobane Sakamma (88), a resident of Bolamaranahalli village near Kikkeri in K.R. Pet taluk, passed away on Saturday night at the village.

She leaves behind one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Well-known as Sobane Sakamma across Mandya district, Sakamma, who had a golden voice, was teaching Sobane Pada to many even in her advanced age and was a recipient of Chunchashri, Janapada Janne and Dasara awards among many other awards. Last rites were performed at the family’s farm land, according to family sources.
