Society-oriented judgements contribute in building Greater India: Justice Patil

National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition-2024 held 

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice B.S. Patil has said “Judges can also contribute towards building a Greater India by delivering better judgements aimed at the welfare of the society.”

Justice Patil was speaking during the valedictory of the 21st Surana & Surana National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition-2024, organised at JSS Law College in Kuvempu-nagar here recently.

“By participating in Moot Court competitions, the students can emerge as successful advocates. If they perform well as advocates, they can get an opportunity to be a judge. As a judge, they can contribute towards building a Greater India by delivering justice and society oriented judgments,” said Justice Patil.

“Like Fundamental Rights envisaged in Indian Constitution, one should also be aware that, it is our right to achieve the pinnacle of success in our profession. The advocates should have an eye on every incidents in the society, as it is very much essential for an advocate to have a penchant for studying to achieve fame in the Court. While arguing before the judge, they should be armed with suitable references that will produce effective argument and counter-argument garnering the attention of judges. It will also increase your professional skills,” the Justice said.

Justice Patil also advised the advocates against coming to the Court without making any adequate preparations beforehand. They should have studied the case file for at least two to three times, he said.

On the occasion, certificates were distributed to the students who secured various prizes in the Moot Court Competition.
