Tumakuru: ‘Drone’ Prathap, who was jailed in connection with Sodium explosion case, was released from Madhugiri Jail in Tumakuru yesterday after the Madhugiri 4th Additional Sessions Court granted him bail on Dec. 23.
Soon after coming out of prison, Prathap criticised the Police action stating that while many across the country had done similar experiment using kilos of Sodium and had uploaded the videos none of them were being arrested.
Terming the Police action as ‘selective,’ Prathap said that he had conducted the experiment for educational purpose.
It may be recalled that Prathap had used highly reactive Sodium to create an explosion experiment at an agricultural pond near Janakaloti village in Madhugiri taluk. The video of the explosion was also uploaded in his YouTube channel. Following this, several environmentalists had expressed their concern and anguish.
Later, the Midigeshi Police registered a suo moto case under Section 3 (causing explosion likely to endanger life or property) of the Explosive Substances Act and Section 288 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhitha (BNS) and arrested him on Dec. 13. He was produced before the Court and was remanded judicial custody.
