DFRL Scientist expresses concern over global warming due to pollution from non-renewable energy power generation

Mysuru:  Dr. A. Ramakrishna, Senior Principal Scientist, Head Research Appliances, Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, has expressed concern over global warming due to pollution from non-renewable energy power generation.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Skill Development Programme, ‘Training on Solar Equipment Installation and Service’ for ITI students organised by The Institution of Engineers -India (IEI), Mysore Local Centre, here recently. He said that the solar energy industry is booming; the amount of solar energy connected to grid has increased 370% in the last three years from 2.6 GW to more than 12.2 GW. The Government of India has given a State-wise target to achieve 100GW of solar power by the year 2022.

He lauded the Institution of Engineers for conducting training for ITI students on solar installation and related skills.

D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited and Course Coordinator said, this course aims in better understanding and hands-on practice in different streams of solar technology. This course has been developed on the basis of solar industries requirements  and said that after completion of this course, the participants will be receiving a certificate from the Institution of Engineers. IEI Chairman M. Chinnaswamy, Hon. Secretary B. V. Ranganath, Rachna Energy Care Director Anil Kumar and Principals of NIE IT, Vidya Vikas, Vidyavardhaka, MESCO and teachers were present.
